Sunday dawned with disappointment. The NG tube was not removed as previously indicated. Brother Jeff and Ray kept his spirits lifted despite mounting frustrations over what we have dubbed "that damn tube." Dr. Jordan says perhaps tomorrow.
The diet of ice chips has lost it's glamour for Chris. At one point he turned to me and out of the blue, and sleepy-eyed, said "mashed potatoes."
PT had Chris working on assisted sitting balance and upper body strengthening using resistance bands. Christy, Traci, and Lorraine, bought Chris a nano loaded with the Rocky soundtrack, Journey, and one of his personal favs "I'm not a playa I just crush alot." Music for inspiration and perspiration.
Prepping Chris as we speak for a pic line for a TPN which is total parenteral nutrition. This will provide Chris with protein and other nutrients, 2000 calories worth. This will give him some energy as well as nourishment.
Procedure duration: 30 to 45 min.
Chris should sleep well tonight.
