Rehab at Mercy Day 2

The Institute of Rehab and Research at Mercy is one of 14 programs in the country designated as a national center of excellence.

All specialists are spinal cord certified; the team is comprised of rehab nurses, doctors, psychiatrists and physical and occupational therapists and they will guide and train Chris through all stages of his recovery. They are the Charles Xavier to his Wolverine, the Optimus Prime to his Bumblebee, the Mickey to his Rock-o.

Rehab according to my brother is a full time day at the office. Breakfast then Occupational Therapy followed by 2 hours of Physical Therapy. Lunch. More OT followed by more PT. An afternoon meeting with the team psychiatrist, dinner and then 2 or 3 hours of sitting up in his PT chair. He has accomplished so much in such a short period of time. Rehab is aggressive. Chris is aggressive. Chris is able to handle his wheel chair when needed.

From here on out the blog will not be updated daily but bi-weekly. This will allow Chris to acclimate to his daily regimen at the clinic and to fully  immerse himself in his rehab process. Pray for him. Keep him in your thoughts and in your hearts and know that there will be no giving up, or giving in. He is strong, he will persevere, he will fight.
